My desktop as well as my laptop have Vista Home Premium installed.

In Vista's documentation Microsoft advises to shutdown only if you really have to, otherwise allways use sleep.

No matter how I put Vista to sleep, it wakes up 1 second later all by itselves, on both pc's.

Very annoying. Any suggestions?

P.S. - never had this problem with WinXP on the same hardware... - both pc's less than 1 year old....

You need to check your device manager, most likely the ethernet card is set to wake on lan (allow this device to wake the computer)

If not that, then there's another device that is waking it up, maybe a USB drive.
