I have seen the windows vista 'fade' effect when a new window (my computer window, for example) is opened. It looks kinda' cool but i'm unable to find such an effect for windows xp. Is there some transformation pack or utility for this cool effect in xp?

You are probably talking about the Vista Aero which is not available in XP. For that, you also need at least X9 graphics capapbility.

Hatryst,

Welcome to The HTG Forums.
There is a Fade Effect in XP but it is (NOT) Aero.
Is this what you mean ??
Display Properties>>Appearance Tab>>Effects Button>>Check Mark Box>>Fade

Kindest Regards,
Rick P. ♥ :)

Thank you very much whs and raphoenix. So now I know that to get the COOL fade effect, I need to install windows vista (AERO).

However, I expect that some utility MIGHT be there for the purpose. You know all the Vista transformation packs and such stuff, so there might be some AERO effect as well... The problem is, I can't find it !

But thank you both.. Thanx !

Coming from the past (the last forum post is 2 months old!), I'm still searching for an effect for windows xp which looks like vista's aero...

I do have this effect in vista, but its just... You know, thats the only thing which is missing in my 'vista transformed xp' system

Anybody got any ideas in mind?

I've used the transformation packs by this author for years.

Has it got the fading effect? I haven't downloaded it yet (I should better ask before testing!)
(fading effect example: I double click 'Recycle Bin' in windows vista. The way it appears on the screen with a smooth fading animation effect is termed as fade effect. So I want this fade effect for windows XP)

Is this 'fade effect' available in the transformation pack specified here?

No, sorry. True Transparency is for um, transparency in XP. Should have read your request more closely, ;)

Scott, Its okay! I also wanted true transparency. I wanna thank you for that. Thats cuz i'm not using any transformation pack, and i have many things missing!
I think i'll have to try 'windowsxlive' VTP. It MIGHT have the effect...

@Hatryst I don't remember if the Vista Transformation Pack has that particular effect - I've been running Vista awhile so I haven't installed the newer versions. It supports animations and visual styles. This page has a good list of features, and this one has what's new in the latest release.
