I just got a Acer Laptop with Vista. When I create a desktop shortcut for a website that has a Favicon the icon does not show up on the desktop. If I right-click and go to properties I see the favicon icon as the icon but for some reason Vista isn't displaying it. I don't know if it is a vista issue or an Acer issue. It is not an IE issue because the favicon shows up on the webpage and on the properties when opened.

How can I get the icon to appear on the desktop?

thanks,

Jill

The problem here is that the icons need to be set to "Classic" mode on the desktop in order to see the icons. Also, some sites have favicons that are incompatible with vista for some reason.

Thanks, Supermansghost.
I found this site that has the detailed fix for others having the same problem.
