Hiya's, Im totaly new to the fourms, But i'm fairly decent as far as CPU knowlage goes, but this one problem keeps annoying the daylights outta me.

Whenever i run a fullscreen program, the computer (32-bit Vista) keeps losing focus, however, Before the CPU crashed on me yesterday, and (though i've since restored my computer, at the cost of all my files and such), i had no problem with the program that im trying to run, though it does the same on other programs as well, I've closed all the programs other than the game i'm attempting to play, I've allso rebooted the computer, and googled the (excuse my french) hell out of it, but its allways a problem with one of their virus scanners, Or an error with their router, which though i have none of the programs their running at the time, it makes me feel even more annoyed that its doing this without the agitation of another program....
Any assistance on how to keep the CPU from losing focus, or any programs that Force it to focus on a single program, would be very much apriciated. The problem only seems to happen in fullscreen programs, and im not useing any software i dident use before the crash, other than Nortan. And i dont think that would be pulling the focus away.

PS. whatever is pulling the focus away, dosent have a window, Or a error message, its as though im ALT+Tabing out of the game/program.

Bryanluke hi. Does the program that is running in fullscreen, drop out of fullscreen when this happens ?

No, If i open the program (Via Toolbar, It just minimises it to there) It opens back up to full screen, But after a few minutes 5-10 or so, It does the same thing, its rather annoying.

Sorry, but it's your terminology that is a little confusing. When a program has focus, its window goes to the front of all other windows. So which programs window jumps to the front ?

Ok, There is only 1 window open, The window i'm trying to make sure that has the CPU's Focus, But it randomly Loses focus, thus interupting my Game. I'm not sure how to make it any more clear.

Ok, You know what happens when you pres ALT and Tab at the same time, right?

Its JUST like that, only i havent pressed Alt and Tab.

And there is no other program takeing the focus off of the program im trying to keep in focus.

With 1 program open in Fullscreen. Pressing Alt +Tab, brings up Desktop. Could something be causing that to happen ? um...I need to ponder.
In the mean time, have a look in Task Manager > Processes, and see if there is anything that looks untoward.

There is nothing unnatural in the Processes, So yeah, Its just randomly minimseing the program to the toolbar/bringing up the desktop.

I tryed downloading a file that supposedely lets you lock focus on a program, but it dident have any option like that, so im unsure of what to do now...

Would it happen, for instance, with your browser, or any Vista programs, running in Fullscreen ? A bit boring to test I know, but could give us a clue.

My browser has been in fullscreen since i started posting, so yeah, its not messing with my Webbrowser.
Only .exe style Fullscreen programs is apperently what its effecting.

No, that's fine. I was just asking what browser you used, as in IE, Firefox, Opera, etc. You have answered my question.
Next question. When you say every 5-10 minutes, could you time it, and see if it happens after exactly the same number of minutes each time please.

Well, before i came and posted, the game i was playing had an ingame timer, when it first done it, i had 4 minutes and some odd number of seconds on the clock, then it minimised, so when i restarted that same level, it seemed fine, then when the clock said 13 minutes and some odd number of seconds, i figure it was a program trying to steal the focus, but there wasent any open windows. (Other than the game of course) So i do not think there is an Exact timeing to it.

I was trying to determine if it was a backround program that runs on a regular basis, for instance, a screensaver.

it might have been a screensaver, but would that really take off the focus? (I've killed the Screensaver by the way)

When I said screensaver, that was just an example. There may be many other things running in the background that could cause it.

Oh i see...Because what i was thinking was, is when i was playing those games, i was useing a controler, but every so often, i would move the mouse for something.

But if the screensaver CAN take the focus off, that would be the most likely thing.
