help! I used CCleaner earlier this evening to clean out my browsing history and registry and now when I try watch a youtube video or a flash video it stops to buffer every 3 seconds. My browser also seems slower than what it was before. I've never had this problem before with CCleaner so I didn't bother to make a backup of the registry :( I already tried a system restore twice and it didn't help, and I also uninstalled and reinstalled flash player and that didn't help either.

What did I do wrong?

I've never come across a problem with CCleaner so I'm a bit in the dark as to what it may have done. Were you using it on its default settings?

What you are describing is slow internet speed. Nothing to do with CCleaner.

Check your Internet speed at speedtest.net and report back the numbers. Be sure to wait patiently for the Begin Button.

Here's another bandwidth tester that I feel is more accurate than speedtest.net

Jim. That one gives me amazing results (that never happen) but does not give me a choice of servers in Europe.

Hi LH. I didn't think about it being different in other parts of the world.
It gives me a choice of 4 servers, one of which is in the UK and the other 3 are in the US.

EDIT: I'm sure the OP will discover that his bandwidth is dropping off during what's called Prime Time hours.
My download speed drops from 1750Kbps (normal) to around 300Kbps during Prime Time hours (3pm to 11pm cst).
That makes it virtually impossible for me to stream videos from youtube or any other server.

Chung

To give you an idea: 2.5 Mbits/sec is the minimum to watch Youtube videos without having to let the buffer get ahead first before playing. I would say 2Mbits/sec is the tolerable minimum for Youtube if you let it buffer a bit first.

@ warlock - American Broadband.... the only ISP available in my area. :(
EDIT: Just noticed that I made a mistake in my previous post.
That is Mbps, not Kbps.

You may need to update your browser change to Google chrome which is the best.

If you have a slow connection try not to clear the cache because thats where the web pages get loaded at so they dont have to load agian.

Not clearing the cache can cause the system to slow over time.

The browser isn't in question.

Definitely need to clear cache. Much information from one time access to web sites begins to clutter it and slow things down. Once in a while it is good to refresh.
