How so? Are you trying to use them for 'ReadyBoost'?

sorry was a bit short on info, i bought my son a new laptop for uni work.everything worked fine but when you put a memory stick in any of the usb ports so he can download it to the laptop it wont do anything,he uses a usb mouse and that works fine, its just memory sticks....... thanks for your earlier reply.

I'm guessing the data can't be read in the format it was written in.

hi again, the data bar has pictures songs and course work which works on my eldest sons laptop thats a vista machine also.... can it be usb ports need drivers im guessing due to my limitations with pcs....thanks again for any replies.

When I plug in a new USB memory device my PC downloads the drivers immediately (happened yesterday).

You're sure it's formatted in FAT or NTFS?
