Edit: Just found Windows Update. It says that it has never checked for updates, although automatic is set and none are to be installed.
After checking for updates manually.

Thanks. Ran the fixit. It wiped the above 17. I'm Checking for updates again then I will try updating, thanks.
Now 16 are available.
One was not checked. I did not uncheck it. Trying update now.

Of the items in ReadandShare's link only the first two applied. Three uses system restore which I have turned off since I have an SSD. and the fourth is for windows 7 and below.

"Trying the rest still one at a time." sounds like a good idea.
i would look at the "published" date and try and load them in order of the dates they were published ??? just in case. also - i know youve got a good handle on this already but in csae it gets passed you, make sure to disable your anti-vi / anti-mal temporarily.
