Hi,

I've dell inspiron n5110 32 bit. I installed window 7 and activated window thru an activator then i installed window updates...after installing updates window was no more activated, so i ran activator again and uninstalled KB971033 and boom! now my laptop is restarting continuously. I understand I should have stopped window updates, but now F8 doesn't work, neither i can re-install a fresh window copy as i just see 2 options (1) F2 and (2) F12 nor any of those 2 keys take me anywhere; I just see dell screen with these 2 options and laptop keeps restarting after reaching there.

Earlier, when I tried to install window 7 I couldn’t do it thru restarting, going in setup, booting thru cd room etc so I did it by inserting cd in cd drive and running In on earlier vista thus installed window 7 and got rid of vista, so running cd and doing start up repair won’t work or me I guess. Now I have this continuous restart problem. I did a diagnostic check; everything is fine, I guess it’s a software issue caused by running that activator or I’m more suspicious about that window file I uninstalled, I think it’s due to that file as activator worked perfectly before I installed updates.

I am not a tech, so please help.

Hi Rick:

Thanks for your reply. Problem is that I aren't seeing a command prompt to do all that as F8 doesn't work, so i was wondering how do i open a command prompt in this situation. Another option i guess can be re-installing a new copy in C thru flash as i don't want to lose data i have on my other drives, but can u pls explain how i can re-install thru flash when laptop is restarting constantly upon reaching at F2 and F12 screen?
