I recently downloaded Ubuntu from Wubi installer. Forgot username/password, attempted to correct it through other forums, and ended up with a missing bootmanager. Took care of that so I'm back to Vista. I still want Ubuntu, but it no longer appears to my boot manager. My plan was then to uninstall Ubuntu through the Wubi uninstaller and then reinstall. So I tried to uninstall it through Wubi but it failed with an error message where it could not find the following file:

>>>stdout=

What should I do to try and get Ubuntu back?

Many thanks!

Hi amata2

I have had this problem and having been a M$ bloke for years I did have the same problem (in that not UNIX/LINUX orientated).
You obviously can now reboot into vista, good and fine.
What I did was download from this link: http://www.ubuntu.com/getubuntu/download
which is the jaunty jackalope 9.04. (to desktop)
Make/burn iso, either dual boot in windows or let the installer create a separate partition.
boot from iso (tell bios but boot might autoplay anyway)
It works fine and will overwrite a previous instal.
It's a fine bit of kit and for free.
It should instal the bootloader and the options will be on the bios screen. It may override vista by claiming to be the first boot option. Boot vista and apply vista as preferred OS, which means vista will boot first if you are idle, the time frame can be changed though.
I installed over 8.10 with no probs.

Vista has installed its own boot manager which will not identify a linux operating system:

i hope this helps:
