is there a setting to work dual screens in ubuntu like windows has or will both screens show the identical thing?

Depends on what version of Ubuntu you are running, and whether you are using the restricted drivers or not. Multi-monitor support in Linux is not terribly great.

it's hardy heron 8.0 and ati is the restricted driver. this is why i asked the vista question. ubuntu isnt supporting a lot of the things i've built into the computer
