Is this even possible or is there any way to stop it coming on then constantly without even having plugged in to my laptop?
I have a Dell Inspiron 1525 that is 5-7 years old?

Thank you to anyone who can solve one or all of my problems.

You can turn off the add/remove hardware sound by going to the control panel > Sound > tab Sounds.
And then for Device Connect and Device Disconnect set sound to (None) > apply and you're done.

If you want you can then save your sound scheme with the 'Save As ...' button.

An article here may help; http://www.howtogeek.com/11854.....sb-sticks/

The sound you hear is probably from previous but now disconnected media and is common in Vista
