(Solved) - Turn off add/remove hardware sound

You can turn off the add/remove hardware sound by going to the control panel > Sound > tab Sounds.
And then for Device Connect and Device Disconnect set sound to (None) > apply and you're done.
If you want you can then save your sound scheme with the 'Save As ...' button.

The sound you hear is probably from previous but now disconnected media and is common in Vista
