Windows XP
IE 7 (on Medium High Security Setting)
McAfee Security Center
Cleaned the cache & ran Defrag
Turned off pop-up blockers
I've tried downloading Move Media Player to my pc from all available sites (Fox, ABC, CW, Move numberous and it doesn't work. (I've uninstalled it and reinstalled it many times.)
It says it downloads, but then says there's been an error.
(The Move Media Player downloaded without incident on our laptop that has similar software (XP,McAfee, etc.)
Help!

Just downloaded without incident, or popups.
Accepted the EULA and installed.

You can try IE in a less secure mode temporarily and if that doesn't work, without McAfee temporarily.

What does the error say?

Only one site (ABC, I think) actually says that there's an error...with no description...only says that an "error has occured".
I just tried downloading from the Move Media site with McAfee off and IE in a less secure mode and it still didn't work.
Basicall it says "Download complete", but I get a black box with no video and no sound. The assistance information in the FAQ is not helpful at all. It just says the basic General Information and System Requirements and how to Installing Move Media Player (very basic). The Audio/Video Playback Troubleshooting (Windows) doesn't help. Uninstalling or Reinstalling Move Media Player (again very basic).
I've emailed their "help", but have not heard from them.
Anything else I can turn off or turn on???

Um, this may be radical but it may work flawlessly in Firefox.
I tried there too (ABC.com) without incident.
(You will have to download a MMP plugin for Firefox though, I have version 07103010)

Thanks for reminding me that I actually could watch Kimmel while I surf :)

I don't mean to sound dumb, but what the heck...
Just download Firefox and the MMP plugin and use it like IE? Do I need to uninstall IE?
I've only ever used IE.

Nope, I can walk you through...
First, download FF3 from http://www.getfirefox.com
and post back.

Thanks for your help. It's getting late for me and I need to go to bed. I'll check back tomorrow.
(I'm pretty sure I can download it ok, I'm just wondering if you can have both browsers on your pc?)

Since I will be persona non grata for most of tomorrow, I created a fresh profile on Firefox and will list the steps for you to follow.

After downloading FF3, you will probably be prompted to add your IE favorites (bookmarks). Your choice.
Go to http://www.abc.com
You may have to allow popups
Agree to the EULA
Allow Firefox to install the plugin/addon
Restart Firefox
Enjoy !

Downloaded Firefox successfully.
Still unable to download Move Media Player with success.
On both browsers it says that the download is complete, but then says "You have encountered an error. Please try again later or report the problem via the Feedback page."

It says to check...
content filter
antivirus (tried both browsers without McAfee.)
proxy accelerator

What next?

I honestly don't know. I can't recreate your issue or error.

The fact that you get the same error with both browsers leads me to believe it's your firewall.

Try this,
From Windows Firewall>change settings

2nd tab Exceptions>add program
add Mozilla Firefox, click ok

Restart Firefox and go to abc.com again.

We'll get this right, it just may take a little time.

Annafred, after seeing your post, I tried to watch something at abc.com and it's not working for me. I have the Move Media Player installed, but I can't play anything from ABC. However, I was able to watch episodes at The CW which also uses the MMP. Give that a try.

Also, check in Add/Remove Programs to see if you have an old or aborted install of "Move Networks Media Player". If so, uninstall it first then try to get it to install again.

Scott, I see the problem now. The version I have is too new:

So, where can I get the down-level one that you are using? :-P

I'm pretty sure I got my version via ESPN.com though.
