Toshiba External HDD

I have some shows on my Toshiba External HDD and when i went to watch them it shows all of them and only two of them are playable now and i want to make sure i don't have bad sectors on it. Does anyone know of a diagnostic tool from Toshiba? It is a 593701-B 1TB.

Just run a chkdsk /r in command prompt. It will tell you. What is the filetype of those shows ?? If they are, e.g. .flv, you need a player like VLC.

I get Access Denied as you do not have sufficient privileges. You have to invoke this utility running in elevated mode.
1. What is elevated mode and
2. How do i invoke it?

Right click on command Prompt (Programs->Accessories) and select Run as Administrator.

I have VLC Media Player Classic and the default Windows Media Player and i use VLC for most of my videos

i don't understand as i am the only user which makes me the administrator

Being the admin and elevated mode are 2 different things. Try again as Xhi said, you are doing something wrong.

a download link would work as well just so it will test and tell me if there is something wrong with it or not
