I just did a quick search on it and it looks like a corrupt Registry entry for your Flash player. With some luck just an uninstall and reinstall of your Flash player will take care of it.

Get yourself a registry cleaner like Ccleaner http://www.ccleaner.com/ to clean up the registry. Oh, and if you are seeing that file on your desktop or in your download folder or something you can just delete it.

Like many good companies, Macromedia makes a clean uninstaller for flash. Get it here:
http://kb.adobe.com/selfservic.....;sliceId=1

This tool is designed by the people who make the Flash player and it will try to remove all traces of files and reg entries related to their product. I've used it before and it works.

What folder are you looking in that you see this file? Like C:\Windows\Downloads, C:\Users\Name\Downloads, Desktop, etc.

You could bite the bullet and go into the registry itself to delete the file
Be very careful and backup the registry first
Remember that if you delete the wrong thing your whole computer to end up as useless trash!

Use this link from Microsft to help - is very explanatory and helpful: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/314481 (I know the actual subject of the page is not what you're after but it should still do the trick)

Good luck!

If the file is in C:\WINDOWS\Downloaded Program Files then it is suppose to be there for Flash Player to work.

Hey, I've got the strange file, too! It shows up in C:\Windows\Downloaded Program Files. I notice in File Explorer that "Downloaded Program Files" is a *file* not a directory. What's that all about? Disk Cleanup for my C: drive shows the {8FFBE65D...} entry, but no matter how many times I try to delete it, it doesn't go away. Below is the registry entry for this. Does anyone know what this is all about?

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Code Store Database\Distribution Units\{8FFBE65D-2C9C-4669-84BD-5829DC0B603C}\Contains]

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Code Store Database\Distribution Units\{8FFBE65D-2C9C-4669-84BD-5829DC0B603C}\DownloadInformation]
"CODEBASE"="http://fpdownload.macromedia.com/get/flashplayer/current/ultrashim.cab"
"INF"="C:\\Windows\\Downloaded Program Files\\erma.inf"

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Code Store Database\Distribution Units\{8FFBE65D-2C9C-4669-84BD-5829DC0B603C}\InstalledVersion]
@="1,0,0,25"
"LastModified"="Tue, 04 Dec 2007 00:40:37 GMT"

It's actually a directory.
Due to a bug in Windows Explorer, it's listed as a file.
You can confirm this by opening a Command Prompt Window and typing dir C:\Windows\Downloaded Program Files and pressing enter.
You will see the real files in the folder and not what Windows Explorer shows.
The CLSID {8FFBE65D-2C9C-4669-84BD-5829DC0B603C} is used by Adobe Flash Player (Formally Macromedia Flash Player before Adobe bought out Macromedia).
