Have seen a lot of comments about Ubuntu here.

Am thinking about trying it, but am just in the "thinking about it" stage right now. Just starting to search for articles here.

Currently have Windows XP, and I certainly don't want to mess that up. Have plenty of room on my HD and can certainly make another partition for Ubuntu (BUT I DON'T INTEND TO STRUCTURE THINGS AS DUAL BOOT . . . just want to test drive this thing and see if I like it).

So, is there a way I can do this "experimentally" and still maintain XP as my OS while I test drive Ubuntu?

I agree with LH, Wubi or the Live CD.

I am playing around with Fedora on an USB stick. That is pretty neat. I also have Knoppix on a CD. But in both cases you have to change the boot sequence in the BIOS.
