I have an HP Pavillion dv5000 laptop computer that I want to remove files and other things from to go back to original laptop with only the basics on it. The idea is to sell the laptop and not have any personal information on it. How do I do it, please?

Clean Install with the O/S that came with the PC and use these machine drivers.

before doing that though - you may want to download a proper disk data wiper.
your data may still be available using free unformat and undelete tools

I would suggest you use something like CCleaner - go to tools -> drive wiper and run a 3 pass clean - then install your fresh O/S
