I need to know if anyone has a solution other than completely re-installing the Vista Operating System for an error I've been receiving lately. I think it started when I installed Trend Micro for viruses/spyware, etc. I can no longer "restore" or "create" a restore point. I'm know the problem is with the Operating System because Dell tried to help, as well as Trend Micro, and both are suggesting that I completely redo the system. Yikes...I'm afraid of losing all our busines information. Does anyone know of a different way?

System Restore Error
(3 posts)I have Vista Home Premium. I did try uninstall Trend and then a system restore and I received the same error message which is "the writer experienced a transient error. If the backup error is retried, the error may not reoccur (#08x00423F3). It also now says that no restore points have been created (which I definately have done).
