Hello,
I've decided to learn programming, but I don't have any idea where to start. Which language would be best for a beginner? And is there any good book or website for it?
Thank you for any help.

My first language was Java. Learned programming at the university so I had little options to which language to start with, but java proved to be nice and friendly to start with.

We have used "Java: An Introduction to Problem Solving and Programming" by Walter Savitch as course material. It is not so much about Java, but rather more about programming basics using Java as an exemplary language.

Thank you all for the replies
@lighthouse I'm not sure what I want to write yet, I was thinking games, but there's a lot of other things I think would be cool.
