every time i access nokia pc suite from the desktop, my start up notifier (3rd party app) tells me that it wants to execute at start up. (I disabled it from vistas start up menu some time ago) If i remove it - instead of disabling it- will it still work? And how would i re-instate it if it disappears from the vista start up menu?

Just remove it from startup. It will still come up when you call it.
