In Firefox you can try this extension,
'Down Them All'

Those programs may make a small difference in the speed of a download but there are other factors that make more of a difference in the speed of downloads.
1. The speed of the site you are downloading from.
2. The speed of your internet connection.
If you list what your internet connection speed is and the sites you download from I list if there are any upgrades that can be done to improve them.
