I am working on a laptop and there's no sound. I looked at device manager and the sound card driver had this error "this device cannot start error code 10." I uninstalled the driver and installed the newest version which I got from realtek. When I restart the PC the driver tries to install, but fails. I am running out of options here I was hoping someone here could be able to help.

What I've tried:
-Uninstalling current driver and reinstalling most updated version
-Uninstalling driver in safe mode then installing in the regular mode
-Used drivesweep to delete the current driver info
-Used ccleaner and removed temp files
-Uninstalled the driver from "programs and features"
-tried to install the driver for the specif chipset

Running out of ideas and patience any suggestions would be helpful thanks

@scorpion99 that website is great but it said it could not find my sound card. I just found out that windows 7 was not the original OS. I think it might been vista. Although the drivers I downloaded from realtek support both windows 7 and vista so that should of worked. any ideas?

@G41M I already tried those but I am installing the driver correctly?

Open device manager
then find my sound card then click uninstall then click ok
then I install the downloaded driver by clicking on "setup.exe"
Follow the instructions then when it asks restart my pc

is that right?

Just wanted to report I installed a clean OS, and still have the same issue it is a hardware issue. thanks for all the help.
