I have not clue how to safely download some free software to clean up my laptop but it is operating very slow and I cannot for the life of me find the problem? We have both Malwarebytes Anti-Malware and Norton Antivirus running all the time so not sure exactly what the problem can be? Can you suggest something safe but easy to run and if free even better - thanks.

First of try this to give your machine a good clear out. http://www.piriform.com/ccleaner
Also try disabling some of your programs that don't need to be running in the background.
