I kind of liked using the Snipping Tool that's on the quick launch in Vista. All the sudden it stopped working. Even if I go to the location of the program it does nothing when I run it. The icon it's showing in quick launch isn't right any more either. Now it looks like an address book or something.

I know with other versions of Windows you could extract files off the setup CD, but I'm not sure that's possible with Vista. Anyone know how to do this? If not could anyone host the program so I can download it and replace mine? Thanks for any help.

zouleous,

If you go to Start>Programs and Features>Turn Windows Features On and Off, please make sure Tablet PC Optional Components is checked.

This seemed to work for me but now many months after my issue, I can no longer find the reference.

Well that did seem to help in a way. Now the icon is back on the quick launch bar, but when I try to click it I get a dialog box that pops up on the screen with just a red X. There is no text in the box and the program does not run.

Right click, properties should show a target to something like:

%SystemRoot%\system32\SnippingTool.exe

It's located at C:\Windows\winsxs\x86_microsoft-windows-tabletpc-snippingtool_31bf3856ad364e35_6.0.6000.16386_none_cd7c35de0fd57264\SnippingTool.exe

Weird, I'm not sure how the location got changed to what it was, but I changed it to what you typed and it magically started working.

Thanks Scott
