newbie here. I want to learn how to manage my own computer Windows XP.
It's running slow and choppy, slow to load internet (firefox) with a wireless DSL. Its slow to start up, slow to shut down, and is locking up easily. This has been happening in just the last few months. I've done all the clean ups: Disk clean up, defrag (which was needed) CCcleaner, spyware check, Malwarebytes check, ran extra AVG 2012 checks and its 2011PC cleanup, did a registry clean up (very nervously), etc. There always seems to be something running in back ground, even though only the Belkin utility is listed in start up programs.

I access Word programs and MS Picture Manager(having uninstalled my photo shop) programs often, on and off often, on line often. That's mostly all the processes Iam running. I do have a number of files saved, but only a few are accessed regularly. I back them up often, but not recently.
Anything else I can do? Should I just backup and uninstall the Windows Office program and re-install ?
