sleep mode

My daughter took her desktop to school and she set it up but it wont work. She gets a sleep mode message and then the screen goes black. Any ideas on how to get it out of sleep mode?

Typically the power button will make it come out of sleep mode. If not, then the keyboard or mouse usually works... if none of those work, she can unplug it from the wall and then plug it back in.

If none of the options to wake it are working, then you might want to go into Power Options and disable sleep mode entirely to prevent this from happening again.

Thank you for your response however, she has uppluged , moved mouse, hit keyboard and no results. How do you go into power options if the screen is black ?

If it's completely dead then you probably should check all of the connections to make sure everything is plugged in correctly, or the monitor or video card could be having an issue.

Might be worth getting somebody to take a look at it. I'm sure there are plenty of geeks at school =)
