I didn't know this.

Space station astronauts arrive and depart via three-person Russian Soyuz spacecraft. One of these remains at the station at all times, specifically as an escape pod. Since there are only three astronauts on the space station at any given time, all three could evacuate via a Soyuz craft, even without a visiting space shuttle.

New one on me too Rick. Makes sense though to have an escape plan if needed.

I bet even at 84 years,Kittinger, whilst participating in the new record breaking Red Bull achievement, relived every moment of his 1960 feat, and must have given them some wonderful information,to help with their success

I wonder if he was thinking about the new technology available today, and saying to himself 'what if'
