I've already done the whole userpasswords2 thing and unchecked the box, but sometimes (only when it sleeps or hibernates, I think) I still have to choose my account in order to get to the desktop. When I lift the lid, it should bring me straight there without the extra annoying click.
Is that possible? Please help!
This removes the start-up Windows 7 graphic, not the welcome screen:
In the search bar in the start menu type msconfig, a box should appear, choose the boot tab, in the boot options tick the box that says "No GUI boot," click apply and restart.
I couldn't find anything else. Not using a password will enable Windows 7 to automatically go past the welcomescreen (http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/377-log-automatically-startup.html), but that's not exactly what you want (I assume). Apparently there are some important security reasons to require a secure logon such as viruses and other security issues.
