The application failed to start because its side-by-side configuration is incorrect.
What does the mean? It's my nikon camera software that I really like.
Can I fix this?

It is because of an error with Microsofts C++ Redestribution 2005 and 2008 packages. Either corrupt or missing...

Run SFC /SCANNOW from a command prompt and see if any files are corrupt.

If not, go to MS's D/L center and update ones you have or if one is missing.

Should fix it.

I'm having the same trouble. I had Norton, and it expired a while ago, but just recently it wouldn't let me use the internet, saying that every single website has a virus. I've downloaded Avast! but it won't run, and so I'm not able to do anything without the message about side-by-side configuration popping up. What should I do?

Thank you for your answer. Sorry, I've had a terrible time with poison Ivy this year, just getting back to normal.
