shouldi or shouldnti? Service Pack 3

Hi Friend
I have yet to install Windows service pack 3 on any of my computers out of fear.
All have Windows xp, should I or Shouldnt I? Are there good reasons to install it? Are there bad reasons?

Pamy,

If you go to the MS UPDATE SITE, their program will search your machine and tell you which updates you need to install in the proper order.

Follow the instructions as given by MS.

Choose Manual (you will see what I mean) when the choice is given.

Only UN-check IE 7 in the Critical Updates Listed.

After all Critical Updates have been installed, then install IE 7 if you want to use it.

The reason for this is you that you can uninstall IE 7 if you don't want it only if service pack 3 is installed first.

i have xp and i installed sp3 because i thought that's what i was supposed to do.i had no problems.

Once coded an E-mail that when clicked on, would open up and scare the "daylights" out of one with sound and all.

New E-mail client versions won't let one do that any more. (LOL) (LOL)

Oh and to Pamy,

I've put off installing SP3 because my custom themes would break and I'd have a very difficult time getting them back. But I've never missed an update so I feel fairly secure.

Yes, the systems are so locked down now, one can't do much any more.
The virus writers cut out the "clean fun".

Pamy, those of us who keep full, recent backups of all of our files, we fear nothing! If SP3 had given me any trouble, I would have rolled back my system to a time when there was no trace of it. SP3 has worked out just fine for me on 3 different systems, so I recommend it to you.

Viruses, infections, malware. Hah! A geek fears not these things for the backup is his ally...and a powerful ally it is.
