I have an email from my daughter....when I try to open it, the following statement appears: This file does not have a program associated with it for performing this action. Create an association in the set associations control panel. How do I create an association?????

Hello rafaelle,

Go to Control Panel> Default Programs> Associate a File

Or post the file extension, and we shall tell you what type of program is needed to open (or rather, what program you need :P)

I have the same problem as rafaelle - the extention is pps - I have downloaded Power Point Viewed 2003 and 2007. Still cannot open the e-mail. I have tried Scotts and Mikes.
Thanks Vi

More info on Powerpoint files:
.ppt and .pps are actually the exact same format, just different things happen when they are double clicked in explorer.
When double clicked a .ppt file will open for editing and possible slideshow in PowerPoint and a .pps file will just show the slideshow and close.

I finally got the way to solve this this morning by mistake --- I "Saved the Attachment" into my Documents and was able to open it in my documents. The pps or ppt worked in my documents but not in my Windows Mail. How this works for others.
