I have a "Vintage Images" CD that I just want to view and select certain images to save rather that inporting them all. I would like to open them in Windows live Photo gallery but it is saying to set associations. I googled this and got as far as the control panel and lists but the list of files confuses me. What would a CD like this be under? the list gives me the programmes that certain programmes open but I do not understand the list!

You need to look for the filetypes of what's on the CD. i.e., .iso, .jpg etc, before you know what you can open it with.

It is probably some oddball filetype. I would read them in, determine the filetype as LH says and then convert those that you want to keep to a "convenient" filetype (e.g. jepg). You may be able to do that with Paint.

Hi,I cant see any file type on the disc itself. it just says 700 copyright free images for PC and Mac!
The packaging was just an envelope which I cannot find.

OK, Feather can you post a link of where you got it from, and as much details as you have.

Put the CD in, open the CD (double click on it in "Computer"), the right click on one of the files on it, go to "Properties" and see which "Type of file" it is - see picture.

I did this, they are JPEG files and it said File system CDFS if that means anything?
By going into it this way I seem to have found a way of doing what I want to do with them.
Thanks everyone.

I am not sure I understand. .jpeg is a filesystem for pictures and CDFS is a system for audio. Does the mean you have mixed files? CDFS is a file system proprietory to Wind River and seems to be used in Linux. You can try ripping the CD or use iTunes to convert it to .mp3.
