Lighthouse - elsewhere I saw you comment that USB doesn't always work with Vista.
That reminded me of the SD memory card in my digital camera.
When I want to transfer photo's from my camera (Traveller Slimline X5) Vista runs to a halt when I put it in the cardreader of the PC. But when I put it in an external cardreader that's connected by way of USB, there is no problem at all.
I've tried several cards and of different sizes and it's the same every time.
After being formatted the card works perfectly in the internal reader again.

I have a second Traveller camera (Traveller DC-XZ6) and that one (slightly newer) doesn't give this error.
Same SD cards.
And on the laptop the SD cards work perfectly for both camera's.

Btw. I wasn't looking for a solution to this - it's just a minor inconvenience, not a problem -, but your remark elsewhere prompted me to let you know:)

Sarah: now I'm curious to know, how is your internal card reader connected? I have seen the internal card reader connected via USB and Lighthouse mentioned that he had one connected by Firewire. If your internal card reader is connected by USB, then it could be a USB problem. Or, it could be a problem with the SD slot.

Whether you like it or not, I will try to give you an explanation :)
Media card players, media cards, and drivers, don't always mix and match. There you go. (bit more complicated. but that is the basics)

The USB problems I have referred to in the past, are for different problems.

@ Lighthouse - didn't even cross my mind, but off course a cardreader needs a driver. I'll look into what driver it runs on and maybe there is an update available:)

@ ScottW - how can I find out what way the cardreader is connected?

Cheers,
Sarah.

Sarah, in Device Manager, go to the View menu and select "Devices by connection". This gives a hierarchical tree view of how each device is connected. Expand the tree until you find where the card reader devices are. See this other thread where we discuss how this is done:
