Hi I have safari for windows 3.1.2
Quick question... when I type www.cnet.com or www.digg.com or any other addresses,
a complete list comes down containing all my bookmarks...
ie.. I 'll type www.cnet.com and below it will show www.crave.com, www.cnn.com, www.<anything beginning
with c>.com

Can I find a way to turn off this feature... The 'private browsing' feature does not do this...

Thank you for any help :)

Sincerely,
Dbar2

Hello. You can find a nice working cleaning program which also works with Windows Vista. It is called "CCleaner" (from Crap Cleaner). It also clears the history of safari for windows.
You can find it at www.philehippo.com. I'm using it a few years already and it really works great.

Greetings,

acdc, I believe the link is http://www.filehippo.com/download_ccleaner/ -- with an "f" not "ph". But that aside, yes, CCleaner would wipe the temporary file out, but they get quickly rebuilt as you search. I think the poster is looking for a setting from within Safari that I unfortunately don't know - I use Opera.

Yes, thank you-- I do have Ccleaner. Thanks acdc.
whs you're right.. I'm looking to disable this 'drop down list' that
shows all your bookmarks.... It's a bit similar to Firefox 3.0's 'Awesome Bar'

Here's a clear description of it...
"The Smart Location Bar, dubbed the "awesome bar" by the company, drops in a mix of your bookmarks and browser history as you type. For example, if you've got CNN.com bookmarked, or have visited it in the past, simply typing in a "C" would drop down a stream of links with some of the most relevant or highly visited sites rising to the top. It's been designed as a time-saver, but a group of users have come down on the new feature because it can't be turned off easily and has a quirky habit of putting some links in front of others." - cnet.com

Any idea how to disable this in Safari?

Thank you again,
Dbar2

dbar2, I am very familiar with that - every browser does this. Unfortunately I am not familiar with the Safari settings since I have never used it. Maybe someone on the Forum is a Safari Geek and can tell you what to do. Give it a couple of days because Safari is not that commonly used.
