Spent all day yesterday trying to put sound back on a computer (said no playback device present so installed realplayer to no avail) that also lost the ability to copy and paste... System Restore will not work just keeps telling me to reboot then still wont work.. went into services to try and manually start RPC only to find right click for properties also doesn't work... at wits end and ready to turn into an anchor... any suggestions...

Have you un-installed RealPlayer ? It is not one I would recommend.
If not, use the free version of this,

Run in Advanced mode.

thanks for the tips don't reckon it is a virus but never know.. i wont be able to get back to the computer until the weekend so will take a look then... i tried to install a paid version of avast anti virus but couldn't do that without the RPC it is a real catch 22 situation... i usually use malwarebytes which is in my opinion the best on the net... will let you know how i get on... i will uninstall realplayer also as it is no better than the media player that is already on it... task manager is unable to detect playback device which is strange ..
