Hey Guys,

I had a Buffalo WHR-G54S router with tomato firmware on it. It got fried last night during some lightning. I'm looking for a new router now and i have some specs that i would like it to have. Can anyone suggest anything?

I would like it to have at least:

25Mbps WAN to LAN throughput
Over 1000 simultaneous TCP connections
Gigabit is optional but not necessary......would be nice
Port Fowarding
Port Triggering
Dynamic DNS support...i use DynDns.org
Static IP addressing
WPA2.....wireless is optional

Anything i missed?
Also, if it can be flashed with Tomato or DD-WRT firmware that's cool too, but not necessary if it meets my requirements. Thanks everyone.

I have a Sky Router at home, and I think it is brilliant, I think it has most of the, if not all of the specs you are looking for. But this would require a Sky broadband package etc. I would take MaStEr-XLY's advice, have a look at what NetGear offers!

@ MaStEr-XLY - I have an old Netgear FWG-114p. I has great throughput, but no WPA 2...i'm looking at other netgears.
@ Flanders2 - I don't think any Linksys brand routers meet those specs. I can put Tomato on a WRT54GL but i'd like to find one that meets those specs out of the box.

InDiSent, most consumer routers don't specify WAN-to-LAN throughput or max TCP connections. Do you have a way to find this information out if it's not listed? Are you looking at more professional/corporate routers?

@ ScottW - Yeah, i've noticed that. I went back to my old Negear FWG114Pv2. Here are the specs:
WAN-to-LAN throughput: 55.9 Mbps
Average Wireless throughput: 20 Mbps
Unfortunately it doesn't say how many simultaneous TCP connections it supports.

I notice that not matter how deep i dig most consumer grade routers don't mention those specs anywhere. I did find one good one if anyone is interested. The TCP connections are not as high as i'm looking for, but it's damn high for a consumer router..highest i think.
Here is a link to the review...might be useful to someone:

I ended up getting the ASUS WL-520gU

I put Tomato firmware on it and I'm happy with it so far.
