Prodded by this topic I wondered about a rightclick shellextension I use.
I have a little app called 'Recase', which does just that:)
I used it on my old Win98, but it is not supported anymore, so I created my own regfile to be able to use it on my Vista. Works great.
Except for one thing - on my Win98 I could select several files, rightclick and select 'Recase'. Whap - it would be done.
But on Vista this only works on files of the same extension.
I can recase any file, it doesn't matter what the extension is, but if there are several files, it only works if all are of the same extension. Below are the regvalues I entered (which are the same as they were on my Win98).

Cheers,
Sarah.

[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\*\shell\RecaseD\command]
@="C:\\Windows\\Recase.exe /d %1"

And

[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Folder\shell\RecaseD\command]
@="C:\\Windows\\Recase.exe /d %1"

Oh, and my question is - what can I change to make it work like it used to again? LOL

Um? But why would you want to recase filenames ?

When a file has a name like "LIGHTHOUSE" or "lighthouse" or "liGHtHouse", this makes it into "Lighthouse";)
Keeps things nice and clean.

I have a good renamer to do massive renaming, but this is quite handy for quick cleanup.

You can do that with Fast Explorer.
Just make sure to add the item to it's sub menu items section as the normal one just adds registry keys like the above.
The sub menu items section lets you have multible files sent to a program and the context menu entries you add in it can be in sub menus (though they don't have to be in a sub menu).

@ jd2066 - Thanks, jd, but that was not what I was looking for. All I wanted to find out if is there an error in my registrysettings mentioned above, why it don't work on Vita like it did on Win98.

Cheers,
Sarah.

sarah, you seem to have too many backslashes in those entries.

@SarahJames: Ok. I'm not sure why that would be. I know the last time I messed with custom context menu entries I had Windows XP and I couldn't get work on more then 1 file regardless of extension unless I used Fast Explorer.
I'll have to check that out again later and see what I can find.

@LH: The listing Sarah pasted is from a registry file where backslashes need to be escaped so that actully does have the correct amount of backslashes.

@ jd & JH - I work with Registryworkshop (shareware). I have an old version I once got (for free) with a magazine, but it really is worth it's money. When making changes to the registry it remembers what you've done, so you can easily find those keys back or undo then if necessary.
You can also easily export to a regfile or view a regfile.
I love it:)

Cheers,
Sarah.

Sarah. Are your registry entry changes in addition to the one's Recase creates ?

I don't have the installer anymore, so I just exported the values from the Win98 to the Vista PC.
Worked like a charm, except for a variety of files - then the option 'Recase' just doesn't appear in the rightclick menu.

You're bet is right ...
Works exactly the same as I had it before.
I.e. works fine, but not on multiple files :(
