Hi There,
My computer has always usually been quiet, but in the last few days, I can hear a revving sound which comes and goes. It is particularly bad when opening big programs, or gaming apps. BUT... when I place my desk fan to blow into the grid of the case, the sound subsides and it's good to go again.. no sound anymore.
I have opened the comp and cleaned the fans so they are not dirty by any means.

When you next have the side of the computer off, start it up (keeping your fingers out unless you know exactly what you are doing!) and see if you can identify where the sound is coming from. Fans can get noisier over time due to bearings getting worn and it may be something as a simple as a case fan needing replacement, but until you know exactly which one it is you cannot decide what to do.
