I resently downloaded some files, that gave me some virus, and i also have many more programs with codec
s with windows media payer, as well as some games i have installed on my PC.
Last time when this happened i took my computer to a geek sqaud store, and they restore my computer all the way back , as if it was BRAND new, all the settings were defult, NOT ONE program was installed besdies the defult programs like windows meida player, and a free tril of Norton Internet security.
I wanted to know if anyone could show me how to put my computer back, as Geek Squad did?

PLEASE RESPOND BACK, I REALLY NEEDED SOME HELP WITH THIS...

I run a Windows Vista Home Premiume
If i sound confusing please let me know
Also my computer never came with a factory CD or DVD...

Unfortunately I lost the specific Acer reinstallation instructions. But I still found the ones for Gateway/Emachines. I think this is close enough that you can try the steps from there - you may have to wing it in steps 6 and 8. They may be somewhat different on an Acer.

1. Copy all your own files and folders to an external storage (Disc, USB stick even SD card - 1 GByte capacity should be ample - even 512 MB)
2. Shut the PC off
3. Turn the PC back on and keep hitting the F8 key repeatedly until the Advanced Boot Option Screen appears
4. Click "Repair Your Computer" –if you are not already on it, use the up and down arrows to maneuver to it and then press ENTER
5. Next you have to pick your country and click OK
6. On the "System Recovery Options Screen" click "Restore Application" (last option)
7. Follow the on-screen instructions
8. When prompted, click on "Full Factory Recovery"
9. Click "Next"
10. Click "Yes"
11. Go and have a cup of coffee - don't touch anything - for a while it seems like nothing is happening
12. After many minutes, recovery will complete and you click "Finish"

"Repair your Computer" - navigate to it with the UP arrow.

Now you got me. No idea why it would give you the error. Was there no option to go to the recovery partition (e.g. D:\) or a "Restore Application" option?

Ya, the screenshot could help. Do you happen to know which is your recovery partition - D: or E:? Usually it's D:, but if you have 2 physical disks in the system, it can also be E:.

Hmm, it apparently does not find your recovery partition. You can try to put D:\ into "Location". But I am not certain whether that helps. I think we have to find a proper ACER reinstallation procedure. It seems to work somewhat differently. Too bad I lost the one I once filed ( I lost it during my last system restore with Ghost). And I do not have an Acer myself to check it. Maybe some Acer user can help us.

No, it dosen't let me type anything for "New location" or any of the other options.
Perhaps, i could google this "ACER Reinstallation Procedure"
If you still have ANY ideas please help.
