Hi
I have upgraded to windows 7 from vista and have a problem with the system back up and install. I made a full system back up of windows vista to an external hard drive. I can not find a way to restore these files to windows 7?? I have tried the back up restore wizard and help topics but cant find a way. Please can anyone help.

Do you have a windows.old? You could get them from there. I would suspect that the Vista backup only works with the Vista restore. You can try to pick them one by one from the backup folder, but if I remember right, the Vista backup gives numbered names to the files so that they are not easy to identify.

whs is correct. Windows Backup and Restore has always been dodgy, even from within the same version, let alone 2 different ones.
