How To Resolve Dependencies While Compiling Software on Ubuntu.

I ran across the above article dated Feb.2012. And I thought that since I spend more time trying to figure out missing goodies. I would try this. Well it doesn't work for Ubuntu 12.04 LTS. This here comes back as no such Command---(sudo auto-apt updatedb && sudo auto-apt update-local)

The article was written by Chris Hoffman. Does anybody know if He will be updating this article?

Thank you,
