I have a desktop PC that I built 3 years ago. The power supply (which was 4 years old) just died. It was an Antec NeoPower 480.
I am now in need of a new power supply and would like some feedback on which one might be best. Here are the current components in my PC:
Motherboard: MSI K8N Diamond Plus 939
Video Card: Asus GeForce 6800GT
Case: Antec Nine Hundred
Hard Drive: 250GB SATA
RAM: 1GB DDR
Processor: AMD 64 3000+ 1.81GHz
Here are some of the power supplies I am considering:
Corsair CMPSU-400CX 400W
Raidmax Hybrid 630W
Raidmax Hybrid 530W
Cooler Master 500W
Ultra LS400 Lifetime Series 400W
The bottom two power supplies are available at the local CompUSA store, which is the only reason I am considering them. The top three are only available to me online, which means I would have to wait. I really only need something that will last me for about 6 months because my wife and I want to buy a new computer anyways (most likely an iMac).
My concern with any power supply is the length of the cables because my case is pretty big. Early on when I tried to buy a power supply at a local store, the 24 pin cable wasn't long enough and couldn't reach the motherboard.
Any additional suggestions are welcome. Thank you in advance for your feedback, suggestions, and assistance.
