Repair of XP results in two xp apparent systems top one unbootable.

After repairing XP PRO SP2 the boot image chooser screen appears. If one selects the top (default) image XP complains it cannot find the windows system and halts.

If one selects the bottom image XP boot proceeds normally.

How does one get rid of the default unbootable image boot record.

You'll want to take a look at your c:\boot.ini file and remove the incorrect one.

Be very careful though.

Yes that worked very well! Since the default was wrong this was the one removed.
