The taskbar icons in windows xp/vista (i'm using vista, but this would be useful for XP too) cannot be reordered which is frustrating at times. Sometimes I launch apps in a particular order just to get the icons how I want them! It seems silly to me that they can't be dragged and dropped to rearrage them.

Also, in a potentially separate, but also related, suggestion, often program icons are grouped into a drop-down (drop-up?) menu when I'd rather see them separately still. That is, I'd like to be able to adjust the threshold that's used to decide when to start grouping application icons.

I couldn't find any way to do these already, so apologies if there's already a way to do either of these things. :)

You can use this app to reorder the taskbar buttons: http://taskix.robustit.com/

I'm not sure how to adjust the threshold... there's got to be a way to do that.

You could disable it completely for the time being, it's in the start menu properties.

I know TweakUI had the option to change the threshold, so perhaps that might work. I haven't tested TweakUI (which is for XP) with Vista yet. Some options should still work, right?

You can use Taskbar Shuffle at http://www.freewebs.com/nerdca.....huffle.htm to do some of those things.
It can rearrange the taskbar buttons and rearrange the tray icons by the clock.
Also you can use it to change some application grouping settings.
