I read your suggestion about using Vista Shortcut Overlay Remover and downloaded FxVisor64. When I run it and select the option for no arrows, and click apply I get "Unhandled exception has occurred in your application.......The system cannot find the file specified." Since the title of your article mentions this working in Windows 7 or Vista, I thought it might be my fix, but it doesn't seem to work.
