I have just tried the new Google Chrome browser, and I like the idea about a minimalistic GUI and a focus on the content on the websites.

I use Firefox 3 - and won't probably switch before Google makes some great extensions - and my problem is that I think the lower status bar is taking too much space of my screen. I am rarely using the status bar for anything, so why not just use the space to show the website?

In this How-To there is a way to make it hide automatically but I want it to hide forever. Is there a way to do this, maybe an extension?

I have taken a screen shot where I've highlighted the bar I want to remove.

Hi Wikzo. If it's the same as FF2. View > Status bar ( unselect it).

To temporarily maximize your browser window, try the F11 key. This toggles between full-screen mode in FF3 and IE7. Both of these browsers have a setting to auto-hide the toolbar and tab bar that is on by default.
