Hello I'm not sure if this has been touched before, but please help if can.

My job through out some computers today, so I ended up taking one. I asked the IT guy for help but he told me If I wanted a computer I would have to talk to the GM to buy one. I said never mind, just waited till they threw them out and took one out the dumpsters....

Anyway its locked under Administrator when you try to get to the sign on screen..How do I format it, so I can log onto the computer...

computer is a compaq deskpro
pent III

its running windows 2000 professional...

there probably is an easier way but you could remove ur hdd. get yourself a ide-usb cable and connect that hdd to another computer than format it and put it back in ur machine.
after that is done boot your computer and change the boot up sequence to cd rom as 1. insert the disc and restart if necessary. if done correctly you should be ready to install your new os.

there probably is another more easier way of doing this or a better explanation of how to do it.
