Hi gang, had a strange temporary problem with the XP machine, something I've never seen.I would click on a desktop icon and all the other icons would become highlighted, hmmm. And when I used the keyboard, the Caps Lock button would work in reverse{caps light off,and text would show uppercase, and vice versa),also was unable to restart for reboot, had to use shut down.Almost sounds like a virus,I did perform a virus scan and used the Windows MRT tool and all good, even used CC crap cleaner.Anyway, the machine is humming away normally and maybe it had a temporary case of indigestion, any ideas? Psychotic Computer
(7 posts)Hello Sparky that is to funny mind if I use that Psychotic Computer. Think you fixed it yourself with a reboot. Have found the panacea of a lot of computer problems can be fixed with a reboot.(Psychotic Computer temporary case of indigestion) awesome description.
Thanks Bill
@Sparky, it never hurts to scan for viruses and malware, but it does sound like a temporary glitch.
@Bill, a reboot fixes a lot, but the ultimate panacea to fix ALL computer problems is:
Do COMPLETE WIPE of all hard drives, then CLEAN INSTALL OS from ORIGINAL install disc or Slipstream Copy With All Device Drivers. This procedure also eliminates all known malware!
a reboot works great unless you have the virus i had recently.. every time i rebooted 1000 plus exe files created themselves and autoran at startup..
i was spending 30mins stopping them in task manager before i could delete them.. did this for 2 weeks before i wiped harddisk and started fresh..very frustrating and all this time mcafe showed no viruses
