Hi,

I'm writing to try and help out my friend who has just bought an IMac from a friend with OS X. Several of their programs refuse to open, coming up with the "...has quit unexpectedly" message. When I've viewed the report of the error, this is a common theme:

Exception Type: EXC_BAD_ACCESS (SIGBUS)
Exception Codes: KERN_PROTECTION_FAILURE at 0x0000000000000000

Can anyone explain what this means? I am a PC user and am really not versed in the ways of the Mac!

The programs it happens with are Logic Pro, Garageband and, both before and after I tried to install an upgrade of this to refresh her soundcard driver, Stuffit Expander.

Thanks.
