Can anyone recommend a place to go to check the services that are running in WinXP (SP3) to make sure that they are really needed or necessary for a users specific configuration?

The reason that I ask is that I just spent 20 minutes going through my services console and using Google to look up some items that I didn't recognize. I was thinking that there must be a one stop place to go (that doesn't want you to run a "free system scan", or perhaps even a program that can make the process easier.
Anyone have any suggestions?

Of course, disable services at your own risk, preferably one by one.
