I have a Laptop and a Destop both using vista But all of a sudden my Desktop needed to have some things installed when it started up so i left it alone so it can update when i came back it said "Shutting Down" on the screen I thought it was done so i turned it back on and this is what it siad

"Windows failed to start. A recent hardware Or software change might be the cause."
then it says " File: ntoskrnl.exe
Status: 0x0000098
Info: windows failed to load because a required file is missing, or Corrupt

Press Enter to Continue"

so i press Enter and then it says "Choose an operating system to start,or press TAB to select a tool:

> Microsoft Windows Vista

Tools:

> Windows Memory diagnostic

Enter = Choose "
at first i thought it was a mistake so i choosed Microsoft Windows Vista then it said "Windows failed to start. A recent hardware Or software change might be the cause.

Other Options:

Safe Mode
Safe Mode with Networking
Safe mode with Command Prompt
Last known good configuration
Start windows Normally

Enter = Choose"

i have tried ALL of those options and i still have the Problem well when i Choose the Tool " Windows Memory Diagnostic" i ran it and said nothing was wrong so i have NO CLUE AT ALL WHAT IS WRONG.

PLEASE HELP ME
THANKS

You will need to put your Vista DVD in and reboot to be able to access a restore point, short of that, those errors typically require a reinstall of Vista.

For burning the CD, use another system. Maybe a friends. For using the CD you can start it from the BIOS.

Looks like you still have not learned to use Google. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BIOS -- How are things going on the island?

It's the Basic Input Output System...it's what's going on before your PC starts loading Windows. Every PC has a different key to hit during the POST to get into your BIOS settings, but it should be someplace on the screen (keys like Del, Esc, and F2 are popular ones).
